In an extremely surprise move, the English government has ordered military action taken against Scotland! In a massive surprise campaign, British forces plowed into the Scottish defenses along the boarder. Though England has the numerical advantage on the ground, the massive defensive works positioned by the Scottish forces in the last few months has greatly hampered the English advance! English troops have made slow progress into the southern reaches of Scottish territory, meeting little Scottish resistance. The lack of Scottish numbers along the boarder with England has proven to be an interesting military move by the Scots, as just moments after the first English troops crossed into Scotland, Scottish special forces, infantry brigades, and artillery batallions revealed their concealed presense in the Orkney, Rockall, and Hebride islands. Though the English military was preparing for an arial assault on the Scots, over three-fourths of the English air forces stationed in these island chains was utterly annihilated after a few brief moments of fire. The surviving planes made their way back to bases in England. The English naval forces moored outside Scottish ports have begun a massive barrage of said ports. The Scottish naval vessals which had been under construction have been utterly annihilated. English naval-based planes have made key strikes against key positions inside Scotland, but have suffered unusually high losses. The new EuroFighter 2000 was implimented in the attacks, striking devastating blows to the Scottish industrial complex. The United States ships in port have declared that England is to stop their attacks immediately and pay restitution to the Scots, or the American ships will open fire on the English vessals and aircraft attacking Scotland. Russia has officially declared support of the English cause, and has dispatched one Kiev-class aircraft carrier to English waters to "guard the interests of mother Russia." England has petitioned Germany to join in English efforts against Scotland, but has as yet recieved no reply. This attack comes as a surprise to nearly everyone. The well-planned Scottish defenses and positions have been the only thing to save the Scots thus far. The great victory over the RAF in the north has hindered the English advances perhaps even more than has the massive lines of defenses erected in the past months. Scottish artillery is having a heavy toll on English forces, who continue to push forward in the face of fierce, though light, resistance. It is expected that Edinburgh will fall in a matter of days if this pace of advancement continues. The international community has, generally, condemned the act of the English. It is expected that the alliance systems which have been forming in Europe may soon take effect. Generally, battle lines seem to have been drawn in the following manner: European Nations Allied With Scotland (Directly or Indirectly): Nordic Union, Denmark, Ukraine, Romania, Poland, Israel European Nations Allied With England (Directly or Indirectly): No official alliances save Russia The additions of American and Russian aggressive interests in the area brings the possibility of nuclear war closer than it has ever been. The English and Russian naval units, both stationed in English waters, will be face-to-face with one another, enemies for the first time in nearly a decade. "It had seemed that peace was inevitable... then England failed to attend the peace conference, and now they have attacked our nation," begins a high-ranking Scottish official "We can only hope that the rest of Europe is as outraged at this open act of agression as we are. Our allies have made assurances that we will be given support in this matter, and we have already turned to our friends in France for assistance. As of yet, replies have been nonexistant... but given time, we believe that the European tide will turn against the English, and they will be forced to give up this pathetic crusade of nationalistic interest. The English foreign policy in the past months since Prime Minister Sheffield has taken control of England has been nothing but nationalistic and militaristic toward Scotland, claiming that we have no right to rule ourselves, and no right to a national navy. The nation of Scotland freely joined the UK in 1707, and thus we have every right to seperate and thus have every right that any sovereign nation has." American officials commented today, saying "The English actions are dispicable and deplorable. PM Sheffield seems to believe that we still live in the age of Imperialism. The Russians support the English, and for good reason. A rift in European relations in the west will no doubt give Russia ample time to consolidate their position in Eastern Europe. PM Sheffield MUST be removed from office, forcibly if necessary, in order to promote the general welfare of Western Europe as a whole." Japanese officials stated that England had been warned of economic sanctions should England attempt to invade Scotland, and that Japan is ready to impose heavy sanctions against the English government.
